Regional Hub
Rojhelat
Rojehlat encompasses Kurdish-populated provinces in northwestern Iran including Kurdistan Province (capital: Sanandaj/Sine), Kermanshah Province, Ilam Province, and parts of West Azerbaijan. An estimated 8–10 million Kurds live in Iran. Turning introductions into real support, collaboration, and opportunity.
Rojehlat — Eastern Kurdistan
Universities in the region include the University of Kurdistan (Sanandaj, est. 1974), Razi University (Kermanshah, est. 1967), Ilam University (est. 1984), Urmia University (est. 1949), and multiple campuses of Payame Noor University. These institutions serve a large student population but face structural inequalities in resource allocation.
Kurdish-language instruction is prohibited at university level in Iran. Kurdish cultural and political expression on campuses is heavily restricted. Kurdish student activists have faced imprisonment. Despite this, Kurdish academic identity persists through informal networks and diaspora connections.
Many Rojehlat Kurds pursue graduate education in Europe (particularly Germany and Sweden) and Canada. This platform supports those transitions and maintains connections between diaspora scholars and their home communities.
